Ramesh Narain Misra

Ramesh Narain Misra is Former Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN Limited. He briefly held additional charge of Chairman of BBMB also. Presently he is engaged as Adjunct Professor in WRDM department, IIT Roorkee and Independent Director on the Boards of PTC India Limited and Indraprastha Gas Limited. He did graduation in Civil Engineering from Motilal Nehru Engineering College (Now MNNIT), Allahabad, M. Tech in Water Resources Engineering from IIT, Delhi and MBA in Finance from IGNOU. He is Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India; Institution of Public Health Engineers, India and Indian Water Resources Society. He has also been President of Indian Society of Engineering Geology. He is Honorary Advisor to Centre for Management of Land Acquisition, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad. He possesses more than 40 years of experience in Water Resources and Power Sector. As CMD, SJVN he actively contributed in diversification of SJVN into thermal, wind and solar energy in addition to hydropower. As Director (Civil), SJVN he is credited with timely completion of 412 MW Rampur Hydropower Project. Prior to joining SJVN, he had served NHPC for 31 years in various capacities. He headed Commercial Division, Region and Construction Projects in NHPC. He has wide experience in Project Appraisal, Environmental issues, Project Construction and Management, Corporate Planning, Policy issues of Power Sector, Contract Management, Dispute resolution, Human Resource Development and Financial Management. He has been honoured with several individual awards like CEO of the year 2016 Award; CEO with HR Orientation Award; Power Persona & Individual Excellence Award for valuable Contribution in Power Sector; Pride of India Award; International ICON Award; PSU Leadership Award and Eminent Water Resources Engineer Award- 2016. He has contributed about 40 technical papers in various journals, National and International Conferences / Seminars.
