Rajinder Nath Khazanchi
Mr. Rajinder Nath Khazanchi was born and brought up in a Kashmiri Pandit family of Srinagar, J&K. He studied Engineering at VJTI, and secured an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bombay in 1962. Same year he topped the selection list of J&K Public Service Commission for appointment as an Assistant Engineer.While In J&K he served various River-Valley projects in different capacities in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh.
In 1981 Government of Libya appointed him as Chief Project Engineer of Housing Projects of Al Khoms State.
He joined NHPC in 1983 & worked in several capacities, till 1997, for completion in project implementation of mega projects like Salal (J&K), Rangit (Sikkim), Tanakpur (Utterakhand), Chamera-I (Himachal) & Kurichhu(Bhutan).
He was selected by the Governments of India & Bhutan in 1996 to start 1020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Project, Bhutan. After successful completion of Tala, he was entrusted with 1200MW Punatsangchhu-I followed by 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II project
He was honoured with "Druk Thuksey", the highest civilian award of the Royal Government of Bhutan in 2012. After working as Managing Director at the three mega projects of Bhutan for more than 20 years he superannuated in 2018.
In recognition of his contribution in Bhutan the The Government of India honoured him with the prestigious "Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award" in January 2019.
Presently he works as a Consultant & is Chairman of a Panel of Experts for a Himachal project.
